Union
Cabinet and Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that BSNL and MTNL
revival plan briefing 23 Oct. 2019 Wednesday. The PM Narendra Modi headed Union
Cabinet has also agreed to a Rs 38,000 crore asset monetisation scheme over
four years.

1. Neither
BSNL nor MTNL will be closed, disinvested or sell off, But Prasad said that
BSNL-MTNL make them professional.
2. BSNL and
MTNL which inclides Rs 15,000 crore worth of sovereign bonds will be given.
3. According
to him, MTNL will act as a subsidiary of BSNL, and added that the government
aims to merge both firms together, but the entire process would take a long
time.
4. Get an
attractive VRS packages will come up which is voluntary, and not a forced one.
5. The VRS
package of any employee above the age of 53 and half.
6. Whoes
opts for the VRS; employee will be given 125% remuneration of the salary.
7. Employee
will be given pension and gratuity till the age of 60.
8. The
government would be putting in Rs 29,900 crore ex-gratia.
9. Announced
4G spectrum would be allocated administratively to BSNL and MTNL at 2016
prices.
